Toram Online Blakcsmith Basic Guide by kokochan

Feeling crafty? DPS getting you down? Just flat out broke? Blacksmithing could be your solution (or downfall). This guide is going to give you the lowdown on making a crafter smith, the dos, the don'ts & of course the hows.

TYPES OF PLAYER-CRAFTED GEARS

Each stat type has a dominant craft. This means that if you have these stat types, your successful crafts will have the best potential possible.

STR - 2H Swords
INT - Staff
AGI - Knuckles
DEX - Bowguns
VIT - Armor

When selecting what type of blacksmith you want to make, make sure you begin with pure stats of any of the above.

WHAT IS POT/PROF/DIFF?

You've probably read a lot of terms around like, "high-pot" & "capped prof" so let's get into what these things actually mean. POT, short for potential, is necessary to add stats to a crafted item. A gears' potential is dependent on the crafters stats.

All items have a "base" potential, which is the bare minimum amount of points a successful craft will have.

Example: Successful NS always has Full Potential

Example: Failed NS has lower than Base Potential

You can increase upon the base pot with bonuses gained from proper stat distribution as well as select skill trees.

PROF, short for proficiency, is akin to "experience" gained when you craft items. The more you craft, the more proficiency you will gain & the higher level crafts you can create. Each craft-able item in the game has an item level, if your proficiency meets or exceeds the item level you are able to craft it.

DIFF, short for difficulty, denotes how hard an item is to make. DIFF =/= PROF! Prof is actual gained experience, whereas certain gears & tec stat will help to raise your diff level above prof. You can adjust your difficulty level upwards by the following methods:
1. TEC: TEC/2 + PROFLVL = DIFF
2. DEX: 6 DEX = 1 DIFF

This basically means that anytime you add tec/dex or wear dex equips, you can add on difficulty levels to your character. Higher difficulty levels allow you to craft items above your actual proficiency & will help you gain PROF quicker.

SUGGESTED BS GEARS

FOR DEX SMITH:
Staff: Dex+12/+12% (Str+10 optional)
Army Knife: NPC Craft
Armor: Dex+12/12% (Str+10 optional)
Fighter Chignon Cap: NPC Craft
Dex3 Talisman

FOR STR & OTHER SMITHS:
Staff: Dex+12/Str+10 (Dex% optional)
Army Knife: NPC Craft
Armor: Dex+12/Str+10 (Dex% optional)
Fighter Chignon Cap: NPC Craft
Dex3 Talisman

Ideally all items should be slotted & have dex+3 xtals to max dex. Total DEX with equips: 38pts/50pts with xtals added. Total added DIFF with equips: 6 DIFF/8 DIFF with xtals added. Wear these items when you craft! It will add to your success rate.

BLACKSMITH STAT DISTRIBUTION

Once you choose which gear type you want to make, you need to level your character. I prefer to cap my blacksmith levels for maximum efficiency & to ensure I'm not wasting my mats. Choose "TEC" as your personal stat. This will increase chances of craft success. For your stats, input a MAXIMUM of 250 points OR 240 points (if you mainly want to craft high pot secondary weapons, SEE SECONDARY) Every 10 stat points = 1 potential on your gear, total additional pot to base is 25 with 250stat points.

SECONDARY STATS
Most commonly, after a main stat, excess points can be allocated to TEC. This will increase your success rate during crafts. NEITHER LUK NOR TEC INCREASE SLOT CHANCES, SLOTS ARE PURELY RNG.

If you decide not to allocate remaining points to TEC, you can choose to allocate to a secondary stat. Some gears require dual stats in order to up their base potential. These crafts include:

AGI/INT - Magic Devices
STR/AGI - Halberds
DEX/STR - Bows & 1Hand Swords

For secondary gears, every 20 main stat points = 1 potential point & 20 secondary stat points = 1 potential point. For a main stat, it's recommended to have 240 points, since the last 15 won't add more potential to a craft.

Example: 125lvl character has 335 stat points assuming you've achieved all possible stat emblems.
Main stat - 240 stat points
Secondary - 80 stat points
(Excess 15 points can be reserved for next update or allocated to tec for a temporary boost)

This basic stat allocation will allow an additional 17 potential to the base pot for secondary weapon smiths crafts.

BLACKSMITH SKILL TREES

Pure crafting BS requires only specific skill trees, the rest are optional but these are necessities:

SMITH SKILLS LVL3

  • Refine Equipment (5) - Basic access to the skills
  • Novices Anvil (10) - Increases prof limit 50+
  • Craftsmans Anvil (10) - Increases proficiency of crafts
  • Blacksmiths Anvil (10) - Increases proficiency ++
  • Create Equipment (10) - Create equips
  • Careful Creation (10) - Potential of crafts increases [maxed skill = +1 pot]***
  • Process Material (1-10) - Process material for points, you decide how much you prefer. I use 10
  • All other skills are OPTIONAL, it does not add onto your craft whatsoever.

LEVELING PROFICIENCY

When making a blacksmith, you must keep in mind that this will take both time and spina to succeed. The less spina you want to spend, the more time you'll need to work & vice versa. There are 2 main ways of leveling proficiency:

RESET OPTION

  1. LEVEL FIRST! The lower your level, the more materials you waste when crafting. Level 100 is your best bet.
  2. ALLOCATE ALL POINTS TO TEC. This will make all of your crafts at this point useless BUT will give you more success crafts & gain higher proficiency level quicker.
  3. CRAFT. Easiest high level craft is Rapiers. Fine Sand is a hard farm but Rapiers requires only 2 drop mats to craft. Making approximately 8 fine sand stacks worth of rapiers will boost you up to PROF 60.
  4. RESET. Use a reset book to move stats into your preferred allocation. Craft your new gears with high potential!

FARM&CRAFT OPTION

  1. LEVEL FIRST.
  2. ALLOCATE to preferred stat.
  3. FARM & CRAFT. These items are the easiest to farm & with dex equips, you can craft the next level of items faster. Just be sure to keep crafting until you can no longer gain proficiency from an item.

CRAFT LIST:

  • Short swords 0 to 10 PROF
  • Long sword 10 to 15
  • Adv garb 15 to 20
  • Gladius 20 to 30
  • Water staff 30 to 35
  • Plate armor 35 to 40
  • BD arm 40 to 50
  • Rapier 50 to 60
  • Mace of Destruction 60 to 65
  • Kcoats 65 to 70
  • Knight Lance 70 to 75
  • Jade Wings 75 to 80
  • Devil Staff 80 to 85
  • Brigadine 85 to 90
  • Sage Staff 90+

These crafts are chosen due to the ease/availability of materials. You can feel free to change as you so wish.

SO BE A BLACKSMITH~ (if you want)
